It wasn’t even close - US Open venue Oakmont Country Club played almost two strokes harder than Augusta National.

Angel Cabrera
1. The U.S. Open: Oakmont Country Club (7,257 Yards, Par 70)
Average Score: 75.705
Average strokes over par: 5.705
Number of holes ranked among the TOUR’s Hardest 50 holes: 10
Toughest Hole/Average score: No. 18, 484-yard par-4/4.602
Summary: The devlish par-3 eighth at Oakmont — all 288 yards of it — didn’t even rank among the four toughest holes during the 107th U.S. Open. That honor went to a quartet of par fours, all of which measured over 460 yards. The 18th at Oakmont gave up an incredible 15 triple bogeys on the week. Two of the easier holes were the shorter par fours on the back side. Even so, no hole on the course averaged under par.
