England’s Anna Scott (pictured below) and Hannah Burke are off to Bangkok in Thailand to represent Great Britain in the World University Games from August 14-17.
Both golfers are at university in the USA. Anna, 21, whose home club is Consett & District in County Durham, is a student at Georgia State University.
She was a semi-finalist in the English championship in May, when she returned to competitive action after a seven-month absence forced by injury. Last year she helped England win the bronze medal at the European lady juniors’ team championship.
Hannah, 19, plays at Mid-Herts and completed her first year at Baylor University in Texas with a string of golfing honours.
She was voted co-newcomer of the year for the Big 12 conference, of which her university is a member. She was also picked for the all-conference team, which is selected from the top performers from the 12 colleges. Hannah also broke two women’s records at Baylor.
The seven strong GB golf squad for the university games is: Hannah Burke (Baylor), Emma Fairnie (Edinburgh), Anna Scott (Georgia State), Gavin Dear (Stirling), Charles Ford (Tennessee), Thomas Sherreard (Georgia State), Daniel Willet (Jacksonville State).
