England’s women scored a resounding 15½-1½ victory over Scotland in the British Universities Sports Association home internationals at Fairmont St Andrews.

The team was captained by Chloe Rogers (pictured above) , a hockey international and a talented golfer who has figured in English Ladies’ Golf Association squads. Chloe, from Braintree and a student at Buckingham Chilterns University, is BUSA’S 2007 women’s strokeplay golf champion.

She was joined in the team by Sam Birks, the 2006 Midland ladies’ champion from  Wolstanton, who studied at Manchester University; Lucinda Davies, from Peterborough Milton and a student at Birmingham; Melanie Temple from Seascale and Exeter university; and former England girl international Rebecca Wood, who plays at Glossop and District and studies at Sheffield Hallam University.

Wales and Northern Ireland were not able to field women’s teams for the event so England played Scotland in a three-day match of foursomes and singles. It was England’s second successive win in this event. Scotland won the men’s event.
