In an effort to promote golfing as a sport, and the Naldehra Golf Course in particular, the state government of Himachal Pradesh is taking all the requisite steps.
All the avid golfers have the chance to putt a ball in the heavens at the Naldera Golf course, floating at over 7,000 feet in the Himalayas.
“Golfing is ideal in this kind of climate as in this salubrious climate, one can play all round the year. It’s a tough golf course despite the small size with just 9 holes, and it is divinely scenic,” said Mini Singh, a Golf Enthusiast.
Viceroy Lord Curson was so taken in by the beauty of this place that he named his youngest daughter Alexandra Naldera, after this hill station.
And the Golf lovers can’t get over the terrain themselves.
Saurab, a Corporate Executive said, “It’s a great golf course and I love playing here. I have played on several golf turfs, but this is the most exciting to play upon”.
Cashing on Naldera’s perfect weather, the Himachal Pradesh government is promoting it as a tourist spot and is planning national and international Golf events here.
“Our main aim is to promote golfing as a sport and Naldehra Golf Course in particular. Golfers in Himachal are familiar with this course, but we want to promote it as a tourist destination as well. For this purpose, it is important that we attract visitors and tourists from outside,” said Abhey Shukla, Secretary Tourism, Himachal Pradesh.
Naldehra, the country’s second oldest golf course is only 22 km from Shimla.
With its magical view of the hillsides, a pond at the centre and a colonial ambience, this serene turf is an experience, few can resist.
