Daniel Chopra Leads after 54 holes of 2007 Australian Mastercard Championship at Huntingdale Golf Club

Sweden’s Daniel Chopra had one of the best rounds of his career at Huntingdale today, carding a seven-under par 65 to finish the third round 12-under par and on top of the leader board at the 2007 Australian Mastercard Championship.

Chopra’s fourth-round playing partner will be Australian Kurt Barnes (pictured above) who produced his best form today despite wearing red, white and grey diamond- patterned trousers.
He promises something equally startling tomorrow when he will be attempting to win his first tournament on the Australasian PGA tour.
Barnes finished the third round one shot behind Chopra who scored a breakthrough victory on the USPGA Tour last month.
Chopra said the turnaround in his year came when he telephoned his Australian coach Kel Llewelyn after a frustrating lack of success.
Player and coach decided to take a more laid back approach and the result was last month’s USPGA tour victory in Florida.
Barnes is without a players’ card in either the US or Europe and would earn a two year exemption on the European PGA Tour if he wins the Masters.
With Barnes at 11 under is Victoria’s Aaron Baddeley with Rod Pampling from Queensland a further two shots away at nine under.
Overnight leader Robert Allenby shot a one-over par 73 today to be eight under.
