IGF Receives 3 Bids For 2012 World Amateur Team Championhips

Three countries have made bids for the 2012 World Amateur Team Championships, according to the International Golf Federation.

Hole 18 - Mountain Peak, Cornelia Golf Club Nick Faldo, Antalya, Turkey

The bidding nations and the proposed golf courses are: Austria (Graz, Styria) - GC Murhof and GC Gut Murstätten; Italy (Torino) - Torino Golf Club, La Mandria and Royal Park and Country Club; and Turkey (Antalya) - Gloria Club, PGA Sultan, and Cornelia Golf Club Nick Faldo.

These countries are to be congratulated for this estimable offer to support international friendship and competition.

The IGF was founded in 1958 to encourage the international development of the game and to employ golf as a vehicle to foster friendship and sportsmanship. Recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the official international federation for golf, the IGF comprises the national governing bodies of golf in more than 110 countries.

As one of its main functions, the IGF conducts the World Amateur Team Championships for women and men on a biennial basis. Future championships are scheduled for 2008 in Adelaide, Australia and 2010 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
