Spain’s Jorge Campillo moves into top 20 of R&A Mens World Amateur Golf Rankings

Spain’s leading amateur player, Jorge Campillo (pictured below) has moved up four places to No 19 in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking with his latest good finish in the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate at Tucson which was won by Kevin Chappell of the USA.

Jorge Campillo of Spain moved into the top 20 in the world ranking.

Campillo reached the quarter-finals of The Amateur Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes last year, losing by one hole to Tim Stewart of Australia and finished ninth in the European Amateur. He was also second to world-ranked No 1 Ricky Fowler in the Olympia Fields Invitational.

Rufino Bayron won the Philippines National Amateur at Canlubang and Ryan Clarke took the title in the Gateng North Open at Irene in South Africa.

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Amr Abouelela of Egypt gained a place in the Ranking for the first time with his performance as leading individual in the Pan Arab Men’s Team event.
