77th Abierto Visa del Centro
Cordoba Golf Club
Day 1

Cordoba, Argentina – Defending champion Angel Cabrera fulfilled all expectations by carding a bogey free 4-under par 67 that awarded him a piece of the opening round lead at the 77th Abierto Visa del Centro. The first official event of the 2008 Tour de las Americas, co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour, got off to a hot start today at Cabrera’s hometown of Cordoba, Argentina.
After several rain delays throughout the day, half the players on the 144-man field coming from 27 nations were unable to make it into the clubhouse. The first round action was suspended due to darkness at 7:17 p.m. local time and play is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 8:15 a.m.
Holding the clubhouse lead along with Cabrera are Sweden’s Christopher Hanell and England’s David Horsey. The European duo of Taco Remkes of Netherlands and Gary Boyd of England join them at 4-under still holding a chance to move ahead, as they were among those left on the course.
