Elizabeth Mallett from Sutton Coldfield Golf Club starts season with two early wins

Warwickshire teenager Elizabeth Mallett – who plays in the English Women’s Golf Association Select Midlands Squad – has kick-started her season with two early wins.

The 13-year-old from Sutton Coldfield Ladies’ Golf Club won the Droitwich girls’ open by two shots and then followed up with victory in the Warwickshire schools’ championship at West Midlands.

Elizabeth, who won the 2007 English schools’ U16 championship at the age of 12, was making her first competitive appearance of this season at Droitwich. After a rusty start she played the last 12 holes in one-under par and returned a 75 for a two-shot win.

In the schools’ championship she also hit top form after the turn, playing the last eight holes in one-under par to return 79. Elizabeth also held this title in 2006.
