Former Scottish Mid-Amateur Champion wins SGU Order of Merit Craigmillar Park Open

Craig Elliott from the Lothians won the 2008 Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh and followed in the footsteps of famous winners such as Nick Faldo and tour players such as Steven O’Hara, Marc Warren and Lloyd Saltman.

The man from Carrickvale Golf Club returned rounds of 65 and 64 for an 11-under-par total of 199, to win the event over 54 holes. The event was reduced to three rounds as a result of bad weather on the opening day.

Gavin Dear from Murrayshall finished in runner-up position after returning a eight under par score of 62, one off the course record.

Former winner Gary Tough from Edzell, who led going into the last round, posted a respectable score of 3 under par 67 on the final circuit which was not good enough for victory, but enough to secure 3rd place.
