EGU confirm Uvisport as it’s sun protection partner

The English Golf Union (EGU) today confirmed Uvisport as its official sun protection products partner. Uvisport will provide sun protection for the England players and their coaching teams, EGU staff and referees.

Uvisport is part of the Uvistat range – the UK’s number one prescription sun cream product, and has been specifically developed to provide high protection in the sporting environment.

The agreement came to fruition following discussions between the EGU and Skcin, the nationwide skin cancer charity. Following Skcin’s subsequent attendance at England team coaching events, the EGU agreed that it has a responsibility to actively educate its players, staff and volunteers, as well as the wider golfing public, about the dangers of skin cancer and how it can be avoided.

Uvisport work alongside Skcin to promote the importance of sun protection and were keen to extend their message specifically to the golfing community.

Melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, is rising faster than any other type of deadly cancer. To add to that, Cancer Research UK claims that sunburn tends to occur when people are not deliberately sunbathing, but are outdoors doing or watching sport. Protection from the sun while out on an exposed golf course is therefore vital and protection is easy with regular application of sun cream.

Uvisport will also work with the EGU and their players to develop products that will be suitable specifically for golfers, who don’t find regular creams applied by hand easy to use.
