Scottish Boys Champion Michael Stewart has been called up to the Scotland Youths team when they face Ireland in the annual clash which takes place on 27 May at Scotscraig Golf Club.

The plus 3.1 handicapper has made no secret of his desire to get more competitive experience at youth and men’s level, before heading for his golf scholarship in the US.

Stewart, the only Boys cap on the six man side joins Clackmannan ace Scott Borrowman, current title holder of the Youths Stroke Play and runner up in the Irish equivalent. Ross Kellett – who made the last 8 in the Amateur Championship last year, has also been selected and, like Borrowman, were members of the winning side in the Youths clash last year.

The six man team also comprises Caprington Club Champion and Youths cap Steven McEwan, who is joined by fellow former Boys Stroke Play Champion Shaun McAllister, semi finalist at last year’s Scottish Amateur Championship hosted at Prestwick. Peterhead’s Philip McLean, who finished 5th (tied with Borrowman and Scottish internationalist Paul O’Hara) in the Scottish Champion of Champions will also join the fray and concludes the line up.

Scotland’s Youths will be hoping to retain the title after beating Ireland 6-3 at West Waterford last year, for the first time in three years. Scotland have accumulated 15 wins over Ireland since the inaugural match in 1980.

Team details:
Ross Kellett (Colville Park)
Philip McLean (Peterhead)
Scott Borrowman (Dollar)
Steven McEwan (Caprington)
