England’s Chris Wood leapfrogs to number 12 in World Rankings after high finish at the Lytham Trophy

Fourth place in the Lytham Trophy has catapulted Chris Wood 21 places to No 12 on The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, making him the second-highest ranked England player behind continuing world No 1 Daniel Willett in a week that has seen five players make significant moves in the top 20.

Two weeks ago Wood tied for seventh in the Australian Stroke Play Championship.  Last year he was winner of the Russian Open and the West of England Championship, had a top-10 finish in the European Amateur and reached the quarter-finals of The Amateur.

Kevin Chappell of the United States, who recently finished fourth in the US Intercollegiate, was the joint winner of the Pac-10 Championship with Creighton Honeck at Fairfax, California, a victory that has moved him up two places to WAGR No 5.  At the beginning of the season he was the winner of the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate.

Bi-o Kim, Korea’s leading amateur, has moved up 12 places to No 11 after the Maekyung Open-Asian and Anders Kristiansen of Norway, winner two weeks ago of the Australian Amateur, has climbed 16 places to No 15.

Zack Sucher has climbed into the top 20 with a three-place jump to No 19 after winning performances in the C-USA Championship and the Bank of America Intercollegiate.
