CURTIS CUP Day 1 Morning Foursome Results and News - USA take 1st day’s play lunchtime lead

America have taken the lunchtime lead by 2 points to one the 1st day of the Curtis Cup which started at 0800 hours around the St Andrews Old Course.

In the top foursomes, Americans Stacy Lewis & Alison Walshe beat English par Liz Bennett & Jodi Ewart by the margin of 3&1.

Scottish pair of US based Sally Watson and Scottish Ladies Champion Michele Thomson from Ellon (pictured below) , used local knowledge to their advantage and managed to hold on for a one up victory against Mina Harigae & Jennie Lee to level the scores at one-all.

The final match delivered an exciting finish to the 1st morning’s play involving Breanne Loucks from Wales and Florentyna Parker from England, vs. Amanda Blumenherst & Tiffany Joh. The Americans managed to also hold on for a one hole victory which delivered a 2-1 advantage heading into this afternoon’s four-ball matches.
