A total of 40 sets of clubs – 35 junior sets and 5 adult sets – were distributed via six Hungarian golf clubs: Birdland Golf & Country Club, Old Lake & Country Club, Budai Golf Club, Budapest Highland Golf Club, Pólus Palace Golf & Country Club and Petneházy Golf Club, all of whom are participants in the country’s junior golf programme. 30 of these sets were supplied by The R&A, with the remainder being supplied by the Hungarian Golf Association, who are also firmly behind the initiative. “We really hope that in the future more and more junior players will start to play golf in Hungary,” said Tünde Fucskó, General Secretary of the association

The starter sets are supplied to make it easier for junior golfers to get involved in golf without having to lay out substantial amounts on equipment. Each set consists of a bag containing 3-wood, 3-iron, 5-iron, 7-iron, 9-iron, wedge and a putter, all manufactured by a top-end equipment company. The starter golf sets initiative has been running since 2000, and attracts annual funding from The R&A of over £125,000.
