Loren Roberts leads after 1st round of Champions Tour Commerce Bank Championship

American Loren Roberts (pictured below) fired a six-under-par 65 yesterday to take a one stroke lead after the first-round of the Champions Tour Commerce Bank Championship at the Red Course at Eisenhower Park.

In T2 position are unheralded pair Gene Jones and Greg Hickman who both shot rounds of five-under 66.

Defending champion Lonnie Nielsen fired a four-under par score of 67 and is in a group of four other players which includes Eduardo Romero, Mark McNulty, Keith Fergus and Brad Bryant.

Roberts appeared to have his first Champions Tour win of the season last week at the Bank of America Championship, but Jeff Sluman fired a 64 in the final round to grasp victory.

Ben Crenshaw, Tim Simpson, Andy Bean, Bobby Wadkins, Nick Price, Dana Quigley, Scott Simpson, Tom McKnight and Mike Goodes are tied for ninth place at three- under 68.
