Amateurs Jenny Pease from Essex and Hannah Burke from Hertfordshire will take on the professionals when the Ladies English Open tees off at The Oxfordshire on Friday when they represent the English Women’s Golf Association in the 54-hole event.

Welsh Solheim Cup player Becky Brewerton is to defend the Ladies English Open at The Oxfordshire Golf Club, from July 4-6.

Jenny, who plays at Braintree, is the Essex champion. She provided one of the upsets of the English championship when she knocked out the titleholder, Naomi Edwards, and she was the runner-up in the 2007 English mid-amateur championship.

Hannah, from Mid-Herts, has just helped Hertfordshire reach the final of the English county golf championship. She is a student at Baylor University, Texas, where she has collected a string of golfing honours.

Both players reached the matchplay stages of the recent British championship.

Also in the field is Oxfordshire champion Sam Round, from Tadmarton Heath. When she won her county title at The Oxfordshire she discovered that she had also been awarded a sponsor’s place in the LET event.

Altogether there are 32 English players in the tournament. Among the professionals are the recent Tenerife Ladies Open champion Rebecca Hudson, ANZ Ladies Masters champion Lisa Hall and the LET’s leading rookie Melissa Reid – who was England’s top amateur of 2007.
