England swept to victory on the second day of the Girls’ Home Internationals, beating Scotland 6½-2½ at Panmure, near Carnoustie.

It means England now have two wins from two matches and tomorrow, on the final day of the competition for the Stroyan Cup, the team will play Wales. Meanwhile, Scotland has one point, while Ireland and Wales each have a half.
England made short work of their match with Scotland, which was played in a cold, continuous downpour. They won all three foursomes and victory was quickly secured when two players romped to big singles wins. One more win and a halved game produced a very comfortable result.
Team captain Julie Brown said: “They are exhausted, soaked and absolutely delighted.
“You have to play well to win and they are playing beautifully. This course is difficult because it’s quite narrow in places and the rough is very punishing. If you can hit fairways and greens you will win holes.”
In the foursomes, English champion Hannah Barwood and Holly Clyburn beat the top Scots pairing of Carly Booth and Kelsey MacDonald in a tie that started off with an exchange of birdies.
England increased their lead to 2-0 when Kelly Tidy (pictured) and Alex Peters overcame Annabel Niven and Lesley Atkins. The English pair never looked back after birdieing the second and third to go two up.
Then Rachel Connor and Heidi Baek made it 3-0 with a strong performance on the back nine which defeated Rebecca Wilson and Sammy Vass.
In the singles, Hannah Barwood quickly claimed her point with a 7/5 victory while Rachel Connor was even faster off the blocks, defeating her opponent 8/7. Rachel was three-under par when the match ended.
Holly Clyburn also had a comfortable 4/2 win while Alex Peters halved her singles.
In the day’s other match Ireland and Wales halved.
