Nikki Moore of Clandeboye crowned Ulster Womens Open Champion at Royal Belfast

ilgu-logo.jpgLeading qualifier Nikki Moore (Clandeboye) was crowned Ulster Womens Open Champion at Royal Belfast, 8th May 2008. Nikki beat Louise Coffey (Warrenpoint) in a nail-biting final that was eventually decided at the third tie hole.

Defending Champion Victoria Bradshaw (Bangor) was beaten by past International Helen Jones (Strabane) at the 1st tie hole in the first round while junior Sarah Louise Winter (Carnalea) marked a successful tournament, bowing out in the semi-finals.

Pedro Figueiredo wins 2008 AIB Irish Men’s Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Royal Dublin Golf Club

16-year-old Pedro Figueiredo, the Portuguese Mens Champion (pictured below) shot a 10-under-par total of 278 to give him a seven-stroke victory over some of the best amateurs in Europe on his way to winning the 2008 Irish Mens Open Championship.

This victory will significantly improve Pedro’s mens world amateur ranking with Keir McNicoll from Carnoustie finishing a distant tied second.

The AIB sponsored Irish Amateur Open Championship which will be played at The Royal Dublin Golf Club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9th, 10th and 11th May has attracted a record 91 overseas players from seventeen countries –
