Maguire twins unavailable for Ladies Home International selection due to clash with Junior Ryder Cup in Kentucky

The prodigal Maguire twins are unable to represent the Irish Ladies Team in this year’s Home International Series to be played at Wrexham Golf Club, Wales, from 10th – 12th September 2008 due to their selection to play in the Junior Ryder Cup match in Kentucky, USA.

Ireland name players to compete in 2008 European Mens Individual Golf Championship at Esbjerg Golf Club, Denmark

The six players selected by the Golfing Union of Ireland to compete in the European Individual Championship at Esbjerg Golf Club, Denmark from 20th - 23rd August are:
Cian Curley (Newlands - pictured), Paul Cutler (Portstewart), Niall Kearney (Royal Dublin), Dara Lernihan (Castle), Shane Lowry (Esker Hills) and Paul O’Hanlon (Curragh).
They will all be hoping to emulate the success of fellow countrymen Rory McIlroy who won the title in 2006 at Biella Golf Club in Italy and Brian McElhinney who captured the title for Ireland in 2003 at Nairn Golf Club in Scotland. Other Irish winners include Stephen Browne (2001) and Paddy Gribben (1998)

Austin, TX, - Matt Rosenfeld (Plano, TX) and Ryan Brehm (East Lansing, MI) both fired opening round six-under par 64’s, to share the clubhouse lead, half-way through the First Round, of the rain delayed Onion Creek Golf Classic, over the 6351 yard , par 70 Onion Creek Golf Club.

Leinster drew their final match with Ulster 4 1/2 to 4 1/2 to win the 2008 GUI InterProvisional Youth Golf Championship at Cork Golf Club today. Ulster finished in second position followed by Munster and Connacht.
