Matthew Haines from Rochester and Cobham wins 2008 Lytham Trophy

The Lytham Trophy title won last year by Craigielaw’s Lloyd Saltman went to Matthew Haines from Rochester and Cobham, pictured below.
Haines posted scores of 68 72 74 70 for a four under par total of 284 and victory by one stroke from Dale Whitnell from Five Lakes Golf Club.

EGU confirm Uvisport as it’s sun protection partner

The English Golf Union (EGU) today confirmed Uvisport as its official sun protection products partner. Uvisport will provide sun protection for the England players and their coaching teams, EGU staff and referees.

Former Scottish Mid-Amateur Champion wins SGU Order of Merit Craigmillar Park Open

Craig Elliott from the Lothians won the 2008 Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh and followed in the footsteps of famous winners such as Nick Faldo and tour players such as Steven O’Hara, Marc Warren and Lloyd Saltman.

Walker Cup Veteran Nigel Edwards Wins Duncan Putter in Convincing Fashion

Welsh Walker Cup player Nigel Edwards from Whitchurch (pictured below) won the Duncan Putter by the comprehensive margin of seven strokes over 72 holes at Southerndown Golf Club.

Scotland Mens Golf Team, who were behind 2 1/2 points to 1 1/2 points after the morning foursomes, rallied to win the singles 4 1/2 points to 3 1/3 points against Spain in Valencia.

Joint victory in Sotogrande Cup moves Ireland’s Shane Lowry into top 40 of R&A World Mens Rankings

A tie for first place in the Sotogrande Cup - European Nations in Spain has promoted Shane Lowry of Ireland (pictured below) 35 places to No 39 on The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking. He shared the title with Benjamin Hebert of France, the current European Amateur champion.

Paul Betty from Hayston wins Scottish Champions of Champions event at Leven

Paul Betty from Hayston Golf Club won his first major title on the Scottish golf Union domestic circuit by lifting the Scottish Champion of Champions crown at Leven Golf club, which was reduced to 36 holes due to snow.

The 23-year-old Glaswegian returned a four-under tally of 138 which consisted of  rounds of 68 and 70.
