England make solid start in defence of Senior Ladies Home Internationals at Little Aston Golf Club

The holders England made an impressive start to their defence of the Seniors’ Home Internationals, beating Ireland 7½-½ on the first day of the tournament at Little Aston, near Birmingham.

David Skinns and Russell Knox collect end of season Hooters Tour awards

Englishman David Skinns from Lincoln, England (pictured below centre) was awarded Hooters Tour 2008 Player of The Year honors after winning three times and leading the tour in money. 

Jeff Corr (Longwood, FL) bounced back in 2008 to earn Comeback Player of the Year, while Scottish golfer Russell Knox took home Rookie of The Year honors.

Edward Loar secures DFW Series money title and Breitling time piece bonus

Ed Loar, (pictured below) after winning three Series events and the Mid-Summer Championship, has taken home the DFW Series money title honors by $17,280 over Jaxon Brigman (with $57,470.00 earned compared to Brigman’s $40,190.00 in earnings)

With that honor, he wins an incentive unique to DFW Series members: A time piece from Breitling valued near $9,500.

England to field 5 new caps in under-16 match versus Scotland at South Staffs Golf Club

The English Golf Union will field five players new to international team golf for the annual under-16 clash with Scotland at South Staffs Golf Club on Sunday 5th October.

European Tour membership criteria increased to playing in minimum of 12 events

Players wishing to commit to membership of the European Tour for the 2009 season will now have to participate in a minimum of 12 tournaments, with two of those being staged in Continental Europe.

The decision to increase the number of events by one from the current figure of 11 was taken at a meeting of the Tournament Committee held recently in St Andrews.
