John Daly: My Life in and out of the Rough Paper Back Book

Posted by under Buyers Guide, Golf Books

John Daly’s play-it-as-it-lays approach drives My Life in and out of the Rough, a thrillingly — and sometimes shockingly — candid memoir of a larger-than-life athlete battling assorted addictions (alcohol, gambling, chocolate, sex), his weight, and, perhaps worst of all, divorce lawyers. (He’s been married four times.) A two-time major winner before he turned thirty, John Daly is one of the most popular athletes in the world. Taking readers with him off the fairway and into his $1.5-million motor home for a rollicking ride through his life — an ever-churning world of booze, burgers, casinos, country music, and breathtaking moonshots — Daly reveals how a down-home Everyman from Arkansas managed to rise to the peak of the golf world, escape from the depths of abject depression, and, finally, take control of his life. Well, sort of.

Robert Anthony Prichard, author of 'The Efficient Golfer' golf swing analysis and advice

Many golf analysts wonder why some of the better players don’t stand up to ‘challenge’ Tiger Woods, as if they were missing some strength of will.

Swing Problems?
Measuring their swing mechanics, as described in our new book The Efficient Golfer, reveals that swing problems are holding them back, not lack of will.

Phil Mickelson is a good example. Here are some measurements of Phil’s alignment from down the line.

We are looking for golf bargains and the introduction of the internet has made shopping a lot easier. As a family, we regularly purchase shopping from outlets such as Next, Tesco, Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer.

I have most recently started looking at golf retail and associated sites with regards to where I can buy golf clubs and equipment. There is a wide range of retail sites, and like car dealerships, they can be stronger in the chosen ‘partnership’ make of manufacture but uncompetitive with regards to other brands.

My son Graham J Gordon, a former Walker Cup player, has launched his own site to provide advice and assistance in that department. He intends personally testing all golf clubs and equipment that he writes about as opposed to just printing the manufacturer’s sales and marketing material.

Why don’t you visit www.golfbargains4u.co.uk and share information with regards to your golf equipment purchases?

The Ed.
