Book Review - ‘Four Iron In The Sole’
Posted by admin under Buyers Guide, Golf Books
Four iron in the soul, captures a moment in a mans life when, he actually pushes himself to something he always wanted to do, to partake in a pro golf tournament, sadly not as a golfer, but as the next best thing, a caddy.
Even if you are not a golf fan, you can relate to moments in this book, as its a travelling life, interspersed with characters , you can only meet in a life style like caddying. This book is an eye opener, an emotional roller coaster of laughs and tantrums. It is a book ,that once you pick up, you won’t put down, till you have read the last page.

Golf Fitness Magazine leads golfers to healthier, happier, longer golf life
Publication created to get more people into the game, keep them playing longer
Buoyed by the success of a regional launch in the spring of 2007, Founder and Publisher Steve Gomen is taking the magazine national this July.
“Look at the numbers,” says Gomen. “Of the 25 million golfers we will be reaching out to, 70 percent are ailing or playing with an injury. Sixty percent cannot physically make the proper body movement that will allow a mechanically correct swing. The 40 percent of this group that already possess the physical ability, would be interested in gaining more yards, more control, more endurance and becoming physically conditioned to play safer and longer.
“No less than 35 percent are already avid with their fitness, health and wellness,” Gomen adds. “Research suggests that the remaining group of golfers, when introduced and educated about the topic, will want to participate as well. We will be the guide for all golfers to optimize their physical abilities and enjoy the game for a complete lifetime.”
Because of the potential impact Golf Fitness Magazine will have on both the golf public and golf industry, Gomen has established an advisory board of experts in both the fitness and golf industries to form and editorial direction for Golf Fitness Magazine. In addition, he has developed a staff of award-winning writers and editors to make this editorial direction come to fruition.
“By and large, golf is an individual game, but in order to put out a groundbreaking magazine, it takes a well-rounded team of experts in all realms of publishing to produce a golf fitness magazine of the magnitude we want,” explains Gomen.
Golf Fitness Magazine, while dealing with strengthening the human body through exercise and nutrition, deals with the mental aspects of the game as the advisory and editorial boards will apprise readers of possible psychological, mental control exercises as well as the power of hypnotherapy.
“We leave no area of golf fitness untouched,” says Gomen. “In addition to the fitness aspect, we will add to the reader’s experience with relevant historical articles that deal with the special traditions of the game and through our articles allow them to discover special, mystical travel destinations.”

End Point Visualization reverses traditional golf visualization process
Posted by admin under Buyers Guide, Golf Books
Phenomena of Sports Psychology
Since the phenomena of sports psychology as applied to golf began in the 1980s, visualization was a major ingredient in psychological programs to open the human mind to successful golf.
Everyone from Chuck Hogan to Bob Rotella instructed clients to visualize the golf shot they were about to hit until the time it lands and then make it happen. This became the traditional way to visualize shots.
In his groundbreaking DVD, Par and Beyond Secrets to Better Golf, Dr. Jerry Teplitz totally reverses golf shot visualization. His theory is that the golfer should visualize the shot beginning with the target spot and landing back at the original lie.
“When you’re using a map to plan a trip you don’t start by looking on the map from where you are,” explains Teplitz. “You first look on the map to find your destination and then you track back to where you are. In End Point Visualization, we just applied that concept to golf.”
In the segment of the DVD dealing with End Point Visualization, Teplitz views this concept as a form of goal setting.
“You set the point where you want to be and then track back to where you are,” he said. “Along the way, you see what steps you have to take to get there. It eliminates the variables along the way. It’s a totally positive visualization because you’ve already attained the goal.”
Par and Beyond has had tremendous success stories, some of which are posted on the Par and Beyond Web site. Jerry Reymond, lead instructor at a Florida Golf Academy had these glowing comments about the DVD.
“Everybody talks about playing in the zone but how do you get there? With what I have experienced (after watching Par and Beyond) I feel this DVD begins to bridge the gap from talking about playing in the zone to actually showing you the road map to get there. I am excited about incorporating more of the principles in my own game and also in my teaching.”
End Point Visualization is just one of the 15 secrets revealed in Par and Beyond: Secrets to Better Golf. To order your copy or find out more about the DVD, visit www.golf-help.info.
Dr. Teplitz will be presenting at the 17th Annual International Network of Golf’s Spring Conference June 3-7 at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, N.Y. site of the 2007 B.C. Open.

Confessions of Sandbagger Book Review
Posted by admin under Buyers Guide, Golf Books
About the book: Michael Blaine is the CrossCreek Golf & Country Club Sandbagger. On a glorious autumn day in southern Ontario his Saturday morning playing partners have finally taken revenge by strapping him to his golf bag (stuffed with 15 clubs and excess golf balls) and tossed him feet first into the pond on the par three 17th hole. As he sinks up to his neck in the pond, he ponders his golfing attitude, his business career, and his marriage.
As each group of golfers plays through from the 17th tee, he tries to enlist a rescue team but for some of them he simply must duck his head under water to avoid the killer tee shot.
In Chapter 18, (of 19 chapters) after celebrating a hole-in-one the “fully loaded”, firing squad comes out to the 17th from the clubhouse, and take aim at Mikey. Convincing the members and the goose chasing guard dog, Kaida, that he is worth rescuing is about as difficult as finding a job.
Tag along on Mikey’s redemption and, with any luck, find a golf tip and a life, business, or relationship lesson in each chapter.

Review of Tom Watson’s Strategic Golf Book
Posted by admin under Buyers Guide, Golf Books
Editor highly recommends this Read
I used to be involved in junior golf development.
Whenever a player reached a good standard, and they were struggling to get that few shots off to get down to a really good handicap, I would recommend that they read Tom Watson’s Strategic Golf book.
The foreword is written by former US Masters Champion, Fred Couples who stated that he benefited from Tom’s advice in terms of sometimes not being overly aggressive at par-5’s. The lay-up shot often brought him better rewards, as these tour players are so good from 100 yards and in.
There are some great role plays which asks the reader to make a decision based upon their own standard of play and Tom Watson provides examples of the best scenarios. This covers people who fade the ball, draw the ball etc.; what side of the tee it is best to tee up on at certain types of holes etc.
The starting point as far as Tom Watson is concerned is the ability to know how far we hit each club. How many of you know exactly how far you hit each club? Distance control is essential if you are to deliver far more consistent results. Nowadays we have the aid of pinseeker electronic devices to help us with such tasks.
If you do decide to have a read of this book, please provide me with feedback.
