Venue Announced for 2008 Scottish Schools Golf Championships

The 2008 Scottish Schoolboys and Schoolgirls’ Golf Championship shall be hosted by Inchmarlo Golf Centre, Banchory near Aberdeen.

The championship shall be played around the Laird’s Golf Course.

Martinsville win Indiana Girl High School States Golf Finals

Martinsville won the 2007 Indiana Girl High School States Golf Finals by a comfortable margin of 19 shots at the 5697 yard par 72 Legends of Indiana Golf Course.

Gloucestershire’s Hannah Barwood (pictured above) captained the English schools girls’ team  to a fine 5½-½ win in the annual international against Wales at Gay Hill, Worcestershire.

Warwickshire’s Elizabeth Mallett wins English Schools Under-16 Title

Warwickshire’s Elizabeth Mallett became a national titleholder at the age of 12 when she won the English Schools U16 championship at Thetford, Norfolk.

St Columb’s College Win Ulster Schools Junior Golf Championship at Malone Golf Club

Scottish Schools Golf Championship at Gullane Golf Club

Neil Henderson of West Lothian shot a fantastic round of seven under par 61 to win the Scottish schoolboys’ golf championship at Gullane.(pictured below)

Pamela Pretswell of South Lanarkshire won the schoolgirls’ title by seven strokes form the favourite, Kelsey MacDonald (Highland) with scores of 68 and 70 over the Gullane No 2 and No 3 courses for a fine total of 138. Kelsey scored 74 and 71 for 145 for second place in a field of 40 girls.

Neil Henderson, a member at the Glen club, North Berwick, had a 66 over the No 2 course and his total of 127 also put him seven shots clear of runners-up Tom Hayes of East Lothian(68-66) and Alan Murdoch of Dumfries & Galloway) (71-63).

East Lothian (399) ran away with the boys’ team title, thanks to the efforts of Neil Henderson, Tom Hayes and Shaun Gordon by 22 shots from Perth & Kinross; and Highland won the girls team event.
