Robin Wingardh of Sweden climbs to 33rd in World Rankings after medallist honours at the Ping-Golfweek Preview

Robin Wingardh of Sweden entered the top 50 of the R&A Mens World Amateur Golf Rankings following his great start to the new US College season, in which he shared the medallist honours at the Ping-Golfweek Preview.

The University of Tennessee student, shot a six-under-par total of 206 over three rounds at the Inverness Club in Ohio to share the individual spoils with American Morgan Hoffman. The results lifts Wingardh 30 places in the rankings to a new high of 33rd, making him the second highest ranked Swedish player after Bjorn Akesson.

Nicola Race wins NJCA Ladies Collegiate Golf Championship

Essex golfer Nicola Race (pictured below) capped her first year on the US women’s college circuit by winning a national title.

The 19-year-old, from Witham in Essex, became National Junior College Champion on the LPGA Legends Course, Daytona, Florida. Nicola was a wire-to-wire winner in the tournament, which was reduced to 54 holes because of bush fires.

ncaa golf latest - Kevin Chappell leads UCLA to NCAA Mens Division 1 Team and Individual Honors

Kevin Chappell led the UCLA Bruins to their first NCAA Division 1 Mens Golf team title since 1988, pipping fellow pac-10 rival, and defending champions Stanford University by one stroke at Kampen Golf Course in West Lafayette (hosted by Purdue).

Southern California completed the Pac-10’s sweep of the top three spots, finishing third at 44-over par (1196).
