European number 1 Justin Rose (below) has climbed one place to sixth in the latest golf world rankings released on Monday. Rose returns to action this week at Tiger Woods’ Target World Challenge with Ernie Els next in his sights.

South African Els remains in fifth after a triple-bogey eight on the 18th hole cost him glory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship on Sunday.

Englishman Rose is joined in California by Open Champion Padraig Harrington, former winner Luke Donald and Woods himself.
