Tiger Woods leads PGA Tour FedEx Rankings

Tiger Woods who is currently out recovering from knee surgery continues to comfortably lead the FedEx Rankings on the PGA Tour after the AT&T Classic won by Ryuji Imada of Japan at the weekend.

Woods should be back flexing his muscles at the end of May in preparation for this year’s US Open.

Joel Sjoholm of Sweden has leap-frogged Kevin Chappell of the USA to regain the No 5 spot in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking that he claimed two weeks ago as Daniel Willett of England holds on to top spot.

England’s Chris Wood leapfrogs to number 12 in World Rankings after high finish at the Lytham Trophy

Fourth place in the Lytham Trophy has catapulted Chris Wood 21 places to No 12 on The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, making him the second-highest ranked England player behind continuing world No 1 Daniel Willett in a week that has seen five players make significant moves in the top 20.

Trip Kuehne, 36-year-old veteran of three US Walker Cup squads from 1995 to 2007, has lifted his position in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking by 58 places to No 49 with a share of 15th place in the Azalea Invitational at Charleston, South Carolina.

Spanish Mens Amateur Golf Championship victory promotes Daniel Willett to R&A World Ranked No 1

Daniel Willett of England has moved into the top spot in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking with victory in the Spanish Amateur, ending US Walker Cup player Rickie Fowler’s 24-week run as the world No 1.

Daniel Willett (England) ended the 24-week run of Rickie Fowler as world No 1

Willett, who spent 18 weeks as WAGR No 2, beat Spain’s Jordi Garcia Pinto by 5 and 3 in the 36-hole final of the Spanish Amateur at Pals. The 20-year-old from Rotherham had 10 birdies in the 33 holes of the final and was seven under par when the match ended.

Victory in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass in Florida has lifted below pictured Sweden’s Joel Sjoholm, a student at Georgia State University, into seventh place in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking, a move of four places for the player who lost in a play-off to France’s Benjamin Hebert for the European Amateur last year.

Movers & Shakers 2008/07 - 22 Feb 2008 - No change at the top

Rickie Fowler of the USA continues to hold on to top spot in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking for the 23 week, with Daniel Willett of England (pictured below) in second place and Jamies Lovemark (USA) in third.

Jacques Blaauw of South Africa has continued his rich vein of form in 2008, moving up 69 places to No 128 with his victory in the Free State & Northern Cape Open at Schoeman Park. Two weeks ago he captured the South African Stroke Play Championship.
