Munross Trophy at Montrose Links

Briggs Wins Munross Trophy
17 year old Renfrewshire women’s county champion Megan Briggs from Kilmacolm (pictured below) became one of the youngest winners of the Munross Trophy over the Montrose Links medal course today.

Two shots further back was Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle), the Renfrewshire women’s title-holder.

Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon), recent semi-finalist in the Scottish women’s championship and winner of the North of Scotland women’s championship over the Montrose course last year, finished third on 146 with scores of 74 and 72.

Ladies Northern Open Golf Tournament

Monifieth’s Aileen Hunter beat a field of more than 140 to win the Northern Open women’s golf tournament at Carnoustie championship links. (pictured below)

Aileen won the Carnoustie Rosebowl with a round of 76 which was one over par. She won by three strokes from former international Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) and Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe. Claire pipped Wendy with the better last three holes in a card countback.

Angus county champion Lynne Fotheringham (Grange) won the Gourlay Rosebowl for the best net score on the day – a 74 off four of a handicap.

Laura Murray Wins LGU Challenge Bowls

Ballumbie Castle Golf Club

Laura Murray, a Robert Gordon University student, won the Wallace Williamson Bowl with a scratch score of three-under-par 70 in the Scottish LGU Challenge Bowls meeting at Ballumbie Castle Golf Club, Dundee, Scotland.

The LGU Challenge Bowl in the Silver Division was won by Jenny Petrie from Panmure Barry with a net 69 off a handicap of nine, by virtue of a better inward half over Lorraine McNicoll (Ballumbie Castle), playing off 13, who also had a net 69.

Isobel Millar of Vale of Leven scored a double victory in the Bronze Division, winning the Bronze Scratch Cup with a round of 79 and the LGU Challenge Bowl in this division with a net 77 off 22.
