College golf’s Ryder Cup-style competition set for June 26-27

This year’s Palmer Cup, a transatlantic men’s student golf match which started in 1997 shall be hosted by Glasgow Golf Club and played around the historic Glasgow Gailes Golf Links.

The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 26-27, on the 6,903 yard, par 71 Willie Park Junior design when the top collegiate players from the United States tee off against their counterparts from Europe. The Americans lead the series, 6-4-1, but have lost the last two competitions in Europe.

The groups for the 2008 Scottish Golf Union Men’s Area Golf Team Championship are detailed below.

Tain Golf Club. Hole 11

The final shall be played at Tain Golf Club, Ross-shire, (11th hole pictured above) a traditional Scottish Highland links course designed by Old Tom Morris, situated 9 miles south of Dornoch and 31 miles north of Inverness.

Bryan Fotheringham Returns Leading Individual Score of 67 at the DSL SGU Am-Am held at The Dukes, St Andrews

Golfers from across Scotland assembled with the cream of Scotland’s amateur golfing talent from the past and present at the DSL SGU Am-Am yesterday at St Andrews.

Leading individual score of 67 was posted by Scottish Mens Internationalist Bryan Fotheringham from Forres, which was five strokes better than anyone else on the day.
