A red hot Jennifer Kirby (pictured) of Canada beat leading qualifier Caroline Hedwall of Sweden by 2 holes in the last-16 of the 2010 British Women’s Open Amateur Golf Championship at Ganton Golf Club, Yorkshire. Kirby, was approximately six under par when the match ended.
In the second tie, former USGA Ladies Mid-Amateur Golf Champion Meghan Stasi beat GB&I Curtis Cup player Rachel Jennings of Izaak Walton Golf Club by 3 and 1.
In tie number 3, Olivia Lansing of the USA beat Sian James of Bristol and Clifton Golf Club at the 19th Hole. Lansing will now face Scottish Ladies Golf Champion Kelsey MacDonald of Nairn Dunbar Golf Club who defeated Adrian Zwank of Spain by the margin of 2 and 1.
Top Australian golfer Stacey Keating made it through to the round of 8 with a 4/2 win over Fanny Vuigner of Switzerland.
Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Canada beat Thea Hoffmeister of Germany on the final green. The Canadian will now face
Kelly Tidy of Royal Birkdale beat Curtis Cup player Sally Watson of Scotland by 2/1 and wil now face Sara Juneau of Canada who beat 17 year-old English Champion Hayley Davis of Ferndown Golf Club by 2 and 1.
Canada are in the very strong position of having three lady golfers through to the quarter-finals.
