Ballyclare Golf Club professional Colin Lyttle overcame a poor start to turn in a storming finish to win the penultimate outing in the Ping PGA Ulster Alliance tournament, at Castle Hume, with a two-under-par score of 68.
Lyttle missed the first two greens and failed to get up-and-down each time to pencil in bogey fives but he steadied up and got those dropped shot back at the sixth and ninth holes.
However, the Ballyclare Golf Club pro missed the green again at the 13th for another bogey five before turning on the power play over the closing five holes which he covered in three-under-par. A seven iron to the green and a tramliner 25 foot putt gave Lyttle a birdie two and then he recovered brilliantly for birdie three at 15 from in amongst the trees..
Then after two straight pars Lyttle had a tap in birdie at the final hole to snatch a one stroke victory over Johnny Foster.
