Danielle Kang won the leading individual medalist honors at the 2010 U.S. Girls’ Junior, after shooting 3-under 141 at the Country Club of North Carolina.

Kang was also one of few players to effectively conquer the Country Club of North Carolina as scores soared. Just three players posted 36-hole totals that were under par.

Top-ranked Victoria Tanco, bounced back from a first-round 80 to post a second-round 73, which moved her 41 spots up the leaderboard.

Ginger Howard, with younger sister Robbi on the bag this week is looking for her second major tournament victory after winning the Trusted Choice Big “I” in 2008 finished on 2-under-par, 142, for the tournament.

12-year-old Megan Khang, posted a total of 1-under-par, 143., consisting of rounds of 70 and 73.

Gyeol Park carded the lowest score yesterday with a 3-under 69 that moved her into fourth place at even-par 144, one shot ahead of Mariko Tumangan (70).

Yueer Cindy Feng, showing signs of returning to the sort of form that won two AJGA invitational titles earlier in the season, carded a pair of 73s to finish sixth.

The match play stages gets under way this morning (Wednesday).
