Edrich Jansen shot an eight-under 64 on Friday to lead a group of 10 qualifiers in the Nedbank Affinity Cup which will be played from Monday November 30 at the Lost City at Sun City.
The qualifying tournament was played at Kempton Park Country Club for the 72-man field for the R550,000 event which precedes the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Jansen, 29, is a Pretoria Country Club-based professional who turned pro on 2002, and his best performance on the Sunshine Tour was a share of 11th at the Dimension Data Pro-Am in 2006. He finished 81st in the Joburg Open in the only tournament he made the cut in this year.
His 64 at Kempton Park gave him a two-shot edge over Lyle Rowe and Alan Michell, with Theunis Spangenberg, Josh Cunliffe and Stuart Clark of Wales a further shot back.
The final four qualifiers all finished on four-under. They were Shaun Ellis, Gian-Carlo Scarola, Morne Buys and Mark Williams.
