Former Walker Cup player and Open Championship Silver Medallist Lloyd Saltman from Craigielaw Golf Club has won the Major Golf Tour The Master Golf Championship event (for players aged 26 and under) at Archerfield Links, East Lothian.

The Challenge Tour player opened with a 5 over par score of 77 around the Fidra Course and his chances of victory were very slim but a seven under par score of 65 around the Dirleton Course won him the title and £1,700 first prize by one shot from overnight leader Danny Belch who earned £1,000.

Belch, wo opened with a four under par 68, nine shots ahead of Saltman, was pipped by one shot after returning a disappointing 2nd round score of three over 75 for -1, 143.

In 3rd place earning £700 was PGA Europrotour and Challenge Tour player Dale Marmion on level par 144 after rounds of 73 and 71.

Defending champion Greg McBain from Royal Dornoch Golf Club earned £600 f0r finishing fourth with a 72 for 146.

Former Scottish Mens Amateur Strokeplay and Match-Play Golf Champion Kevin McAlpine from Alyth Golf Club dropped from 2nd to 5th place on 147, after rounds of 70 and 77 to earn £550.
