Golf Australia - Back Injury Forces Fred Couples to withdraw from 2009 Australian Open field

Former U.S Masters Champion and President's Cup captain Couples of the USA, who was scheduled to line up in the 2009 Australian Open in Sydney, has had to withdraw due to the flare up of a recurring back injury. 
The former World Number 1 had a flare-up of a lower back injury that makes it impossible to sit down for extended periods making the long plane trip to Australia impossible.
The Australian Open field shall include a strong international contingent which includes crowd favourite John Daly and fellow Americans Bryce Molder, Steve Marino, Kevin Stadler plus golfers from Korea and Japan.
The field will also include Australia’s best golfing talents including Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Michael Sim, Stuart Appleby, Mathew Goggin, Marc Leishman and Greg Chalmers.
In addition, Australian golf legend Greg Norman will be in attendance to host a junior golf clinic on Saturday December 5 and will be commentating on Network Ten, the host broadcaster of the event.
The Australian Open will be held from 3-6 December at New South Wales Golf Club.
