Bookmark and Share

Puma have announced that it has signed an agreement for a non-disclosed sum to acquire 100 percent of Cobra Golf from Acushnet Company, who also own Titleist and FootJoy Golf Brands.

The acquisition of Cobra Golf includes the Cobra brand as well as related inventory, intellectual property and endorsement contracts and is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Based in Carlsbad, California, Cobra Golf was founded in 1973. In 1996, Cobra Golf was acquired by American Brands Inc. (later re-named Fortune Brands) and has since then been managed together under the Acushnet Company umbrella with its other golf brands such as Titleist and FootJoy.

Pending U.S regulatory approval, the effective date of the acquisition of Cobra Golf is expected to be in the second quarter of 2010.

Several of the world's top golfers such as 2010 PGA Tour event winners Geoff Ogilvy and Camilo Villegas use Cobra Golf Equipment.
