Mid Amateur Golf (www.midamgolf.co.uk.) are pleased to announce that Martin Young from Brockenhurst Manor has won the inaugural Mid Amateur Golf Tour & Order of Merit for 2012 sponsored by Selous UK.
Martin Young who plays off a handicap of plus 3 and is a previous winner of the English Mid Amateur Championship in 2006 (The Logan Trophy) played steady throughout the year and although never winning an event finished in the top 4 on more than 5 occasions at courses such as Chart Hills, Sunningdale and Hankley Common.
Martin finished ahead of James Bishop (Little Aston), Jody Greenall (Brampton) and Mid Amateur regular Andrew Inglis (Sunningdale Artisans). An end of year charge also came from Steve Watton of Enville Golf Club who picked up 4 top 10 finishes to propel him up the leader board to 5th place.

The tour and order of merit have been a long time coming and we are committed to providing quality events at quality venues for 2013 and beyond.” Commented Jason Morris, Director of Golf at Mid Amateur Golf.
Mid Amateur Golf will be holding events at Hunstanton, West Lancashire, Chart Hills and also an event in Ireland playing the famous Lahinch and Doonbeg courses. The Welsh Mid Amateur Championship will also be held at the Jack Nicklaus designed Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club.
Further events are to be held at Sunningdale, Hankley Common, Liphook, Porters Park, Old Fold Manor, South Herts, Royal Cinque Ports and of course the Logan Trophy which is being held at the Worcestershire Golf Club in early July 2013.
“The tour is really taking off now with players from all over the UK and Europe and we are looking for potential sponsors who may be interested in joining us for 2013.” Added Jason.
