Players were divided into eight teams, consisting of two Swanston members and two SDGP players, Following a challenge laid down by club members, some forty golfers, from numerous areas of Scotland, took on the challenges of the Swanston New Golf Club in Edinburgh, on Thursday 15 April.

2009 was the inaugural year for this Swanston Challenge Trophy and the senior's members took that event by six games to two.  This year the SDGP had a much larger entry and had enough players to have a reserve team and a few additional players who participated in the GolfbloggerUK Order of Merit Championship.

Stevie Cunningham, the Event Organiser said, "A warm welcome awaited us at the club and after the traditional eats, the teams were announced and began teeing off in some great weather.  We must thank Stewart Sneddon at the club and the senior's Captain and his players for a great day's golf and fun".

The competition for the Challenge Trophy, which remains on display at the club will be engraved this year with "tie", when after taking a very early lead, the Swanston members faltered a little toward the end of the field and the SDGP pulled back enough to finish the day on four games each.

There were four Nearest the Pin prizes on the day, with two holes for the Swanston members and two holes for the SDGP players.  After a few libations and a great meal the SDGP winners on the day were:

1st SDGP Stevie Cunningham of Newton with 42 points
2nd SDGP Jim Gales of Springfield with 41 points
3rd SDGP Fraser Paterson of Edinburgh with 40 points.

1st SDGP Coach John Murray of Glenrothes with 41 points
2nd SDGP Coach Rob Steele of Glasgow with 38 points
3rd SDGP Coach Stewart Copland of Johnston with 35 points.

The next SDGP match will take place on Saturday 1 May at the Carrick on Loch Lomond Golf Course, which was rescheduled from March due to the inclement weather.
