Patrick Nagle and Brandon Brown co-lead NGA Hooters The 2010 ADI Classic
Friday, 21 May 2010

Former University of Illinois golfer Patrick Nagle of Pacifica, California and former Easter Kentucky golfer Brandon Brown of Shelbyville, Kentucky posted eight-under 64’s at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club in the first round of The 2010 ADI Classic and will take a one stroke lead into Friday’s second round.
Nagle began his tournament on the back nine Thursday morning and quickly went to work carding three straight birdies out of the gate to set the tone early for his round. He added two more birdies before a costly bogey at the 18th hole, his ninth hole of the day, sent him to the front nine at four-under par 32. Nagle quickly redeemed himself with a birdie at the first and added three more over his final eight holes for back to back nines of 32 and opening round score of eight-under par 64.
Brown played in the final group of the day Thursday and started off hot with five birdies over his first nine holes for a five-under par 31 on his opening nine and then kept the foot on the gas pedal on his back nine with three more birdies for his share of the first round lead with an eight-under par 64.
A trio of golfers, Casey Crain (La Combe, LA), David Skinns (Lincoln, England) and Yohann Benson (Montreal, Canada) will enter the second round trailing Nagle by one stroke after they opened with seven-under par 65’s Thursday. All three golfers played in the afternoon wave and Crain was the first to come in with his 65 after he carded nines of 30-35 with seven birdies and no bogies. Benson and Skinns played in the same group Thursday and fed off each other as they combined for sixteen birdies, one eagle and four bogies. Benson posted nines of 33-32, while Skinns carded nines of 34-31.
Brent Long (Carthage, TN), Matt Anderson (Edina, MN), Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, MI), Chris Baker (Brownstown, IN), Jeff Dennis (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL), Derek Bohlen (Scottsdale, AZ) and Andy Pope (Glen Ellyn, IL) will begin the second round two strokes behind Nagle and Brown after the group opened with six-under par 66’s Thursday.
2008 ADI Champion Mark Blakefield (Maysville) and Andrew Stephens (Union) head up the Kentucky players in The ADI Classic after they opened with a four-under par 68’s Thursday. Other Kentucky players in the field include Ryan Britt (70), Jeff Gumm (70), Rick Cochran (70), Jerry Price (70), Matt Savage (71), Cory Cox (72), Cherry Blossom head pro Steve Conley (72), Rex Chaney (72), Trey Bowling (72), Bryan Conway (72), former Kentucky golfer Brad Doster (73), Jessie Mudd (75), Willis Ring (76) and Michael Carter (84).
Round two will begin at 7:30 am Friday morning. After the completion of Round two, the field will be cut to the low 70 players and ties.
The total purse for The 2010 ADI Classic is $200,000 with $30,000 going to the winner. As with all Hooters Tour tournaments, the event is free of charge and open to the public.
