The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership, which has just been awarded its full registered Scottish charity status, has announced that they will host a second Pan-Disability Open Golf Championship in 2010.

The SDGP, which was the first group in the United Kingdom to organise a Pan-Disability Open Golf Championship, has announced that in 2010 it will once again hosted in Scotland. It will be played over three days at the prestigious Scotscraig Golf Club, Tayport in Fife, an Open qualifying standard golf course and the thirteenth oldest golf club in the world . The event will be played in early September and will consist of a practise round and two days of golf for the Championship players.

Jim Gales, the Chairman of the SDGP, said, "We are delighted to be able to host the Open at such a high profile golf course and look forward to welcoming golfers from around the world. In 2008 we had over thirty golfers from over seven countries and in 2010, with our profile being even higher we are anticipating more entries, which will be great for the event and promotion of disabled golf in Scotland".

The SDGP has also just been awarded full Registered Scottish Charity Status by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, which will be a great opportunity for the group to generate funds and more golfing opportunities for its members and coaches. In addition to the three day Open in September, the group will host an inaugural Scottish Championship, along with two to three training days and over twenty single day competitions.

Steve Bramwell, the SDGP Secretary said, "Although the SDGP has been organising games and golf since 2005, we have since our official launch in 2006, had to operate on a small budget and it is quite expensive to provide annual golf tuition for our members, so the charitable status should allow us to generate funds and further evolve. We have encountered many new health conditions and mobility problems and want to encourage anyone to come and have a go as such problems should not stop anyone playing golf".

The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership, which is operated and governed by disabled people, is the only group in Scotland which actively encourages and involves anyone of any age, with a disability, serious health problem or mobility issue and their coaches, who wish to play golf and includes amputees, the blind, deaf, those with learning difficulties, downs syndrome, stroke and heart attack victims, wheelchair users and anyone with other similar issues, who wish to learn or play the sport.
