For the first time Scotland's only pan-disability golf group, will host three major world golfing events.  The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership will stage a three day, Scottish Championship open event and the inaugural four day, World Ryder Cup event in July, followed by a brand new three day Scotland v England, Auld Enemies Clash In October.

The Scottish Championship will take place at the Dullatur Golf Club, from Monday 11 to Wednesday 13 July and will involve over thirty six players from across the UK, Ireland and the likes of Canada and Germany.  The three competition days will total some fifty four holes of Stableford golf over Dullatur's Carrickstone Course.

Just a short distance away, at the Westerwood Resort and Hotel in Cumbernauld, the inaugural World Team Cup will be held from Friday 15 to Monday 18 July.  Forty eight golfers will make up four teams to play in a seventy two hole, Ryder Cup style event.  They will be, Scotland, England, the Celtic Nations and a World squad.  The format for the four competition days will be foursomes, fourballs, and a modified scramble and finish off with the traditional singles game.

Steve Bramwell, the Scottish Captain for the World Cup, said, "Combined with the 3-day Scottish Championship, some competitors could end up by playing golf for seven out of eight days.  A gruelling but true test of golf.  This event is obviously for the more established golfers in our group, but the SDGP now has such a good variety and standard of golf event throughout the year, that we are confident we provide golf and golf training for everyone from beginners, right through to international players."

To crown what is already a packed season's golf, SDGP members will make up a Scotland Squad and travel to the prestigious five star Slaley Hall in Hexham in October to play a brand new "Auld Enemies Clash" against a team made up of members from England's Disabled Golf Society.  The three days of match play golf will take on the regular foursomes, fourball and singles game and run from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October.

Jim Gales, the Scottish Captain for the Auld Enemies Clash, said, "We have been trying to get an event at Slaley Hall for a number of years, so this is a bit of a feather in our cap.  The DGS in England are a comparatively new group but have expanded rapidly and arrange events across the country for disabled players and beginners.  Both our groups want to get disabled people out there golfing as much as possible.  We don't want to bother with politics or frills at events, we just want to play golf and enjoy the 19th hole."
