Former Michigan State golfer Matt Harmon of Grand Rapids, Michigan posted a ten-under 62 at Peoria Ridge Golf Club in the second round of The 2010 Buffalo Run Casino Classic presented by Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma to reach sixteen-under par 128 after two rounds.

Harmon, a winner earlier this year in Atlanta, Georgia, continued his assault on the Peoria Ridge course on Friday with eight more birdies and an eagle to give him a two day total of fourteen birdies, one eagle and zero bogies.

Harmon’s pace was set early on Friday afternoon as he birdied his first hole out of the shoot, then eagled the par 4 5th hole before adding two more birdies on holes 7 and 9 to turn at five-under par 31. The former Spartan added another birdie on 10 for back to back birdies and then added another birdie on 12, back to back birdies for the second time in the round on holes 14 and 15 before closing out his birdie barrage with another birdie at the 17th hole for an inward nine of five-under par 31 and a convincing five stroke advantage over his nearest competitor.

Harmon’s nearest competitor is Parker LaBarge of St. Louis, Missouri. LaBarge opened with a seven-under par 65 on Thursday and like the man he is chasing has yet to post a bogey on his scorecard after a bogey free four-under par 68 on Friday to get to eleven-under par 133.

A pair of golfers with SEC ties will begin moving day trailing Harmon by six strokes. Former Ole Miss standout Kyle Ellis (Senatobia, MS) and former South Carolina golfer Scott Feaster each posted back to back five-under par 67’s to move up the leader board on windy day in Oklahoma.

Defending champion Ted Potter Jr. of Silver Springs, Florida opened with a three-under par 69 and backed that up with a five-under par 67 Friday to move into a tie for tenth with three other golfers.

Former Tulsa standout Ryan Henry (Broken Arrow) and former OSU golfer Tyler Leon (Dallas, TX) head up the Oklahoma contingent in the Buffalo Run Casino classic after they posted two day totals of six-under par 138’s. Other Oklahoman’s include Stafford Gray (139), Craig Van Horn (139), Robert Streb (141), Rhein Gibson (141), former OSU star Jonathon Moore (142), Hamilton Wheeler (143), Kasey Threat (148), Ryan Brooks (148), Patrick Churchwell (150), Kenneth Cole (153) and Jerry Friend (158).

Friday’s cutline fell at three-under par 141 with seventy-three golfers making the weekend portion of the Buffalo Run Casino Classic. Round three will begin at 7:30 am Saturday morning with the leaders teeing off hole number one at 9:18 am. 

The total purse for The 2010 Buffalo Run Casino Classic is $200,000 with $30,000 going to the winner. As with all NGA Hooters Tour tournaments, the event is free of charge and open to the public.
