The new International Headquarters will be situated at the main entrance to the Fire and Earth courses at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The purpose-built facility will include a Centre of Excellence, providing a unique base for European Tour Members to practice and train at anytime of the year, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and physiotherapy service
The new headquarters will act as a focal point for the Tour’s increasingly global events. The team based in Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates will manage the Tour’s tournament schedule around the world.
Architects are now working on plans for the state-of-the-art International Headquarters building and it is expected it will be opened by the end of 2009, when the inaugural Dubai World Championship will be staged.
George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: "As the balance of tournaments on the Tour becomes increasingly global we saw a need for a new facility which is situated more centrally for our stakeholders. Dubai is a perfect global hub, it works with most of the time zones in which we have to operate; it has modern state-of-the-art infrastructure; and it has outstanding air links to all our destinations.
“With the climax to the season being in Dubai from 2009, I think it is absolutely right that we have a permanent home there.â€
