Members and coaches of the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership have just concluded their latest competition for the 2011 Order of Merit Championship and followed in the footsteps of the Scottish Seniors Championship held at the Fairmont Hotel Course, near St Andrews.

Thirty six golfers travelled from across Scotland and England to play the prestigious links course for the SDGP Links Trophy.  Stevie Cunningham, the current Vice Chairman of the group and a previous winner of the Trophy said, "What a great venue to play any event at and the course is in such great condition after the seniors visit.  There are lots of good players in the Partnership nowadays, so you need to be on top of your game at SDGP events".

The SDGP has around six Order of Merit competitions to complete before the end of the season and there is a good spread of players from across Scotland in contention.  Leading is Colin Brock of Fife, closely followed by Ian White of Glasgow and another Fifer Bob Drysdale.  In the following pack is Stevie Cunningham of West Lothian and Peter Osborne of Lancaster.

The group were also joined by Drew and Helen McKenzie, who are supporting the charity by donating part of their "The Man Who" Christmas Card project proceeds to the SDGP.  More information on this project can be found at the SDGP website.

Stableford winners on the day were:

SDGP players - 1 Ruairidh Deans of Fife 40 points and 2 Malcolm Gerdes-Hansen also of Fife 34 points

Coaches winners were - 1 Alan Gray of Lanark 35 points and Andrew Girdwood of Fife points

Nearest the pin at the 16th were - Malcolm Gerdes-Hansen and Andrew Girdwood and at the third was

Andy Lesley.  A special "tryers" prize was awarded to Gordon Waddell of Airdrie.

Team Winners on the day were:

1st Team 6 124 points were Derek Milne of Fife, Willie McEwan of Fife, John Copland of Johnstone and Ruairidh Deans of Fife.

2nd Team 5 with 121 points were Alex Duncan, Andrew Gerdwood, Tom Hutton and and D Moffat of Fife.

3rd Team 2 with 116 were Ian Flannigan, Iain McLaughlin, Hugh Hutcheon and Colin Gallagher of Angus.

The organising team would like to thank everyone at the Fairmont for their generosity and support, without which such an event would not be possible or such a success.

The SDGP now moves on to three events in September at Craigentinny in Edinburgh, Carluke near Glasgow and Elmwood in fife, just before the inaugural 3-day, Scotland v England, and Auld Enemies

Cup match in Northumberland.  Full details on all the SDGP fixtures, can be found at www.sdgp.co.uk. or by email at info@sdgp.co.uk.
