The Valenti Golf Pro Am, ran in association with The Players Tour, over 54 holes at Hacienda Del Alamo Golf Resort near Murcia, South-East Spain has proved to be another success.

This golf event provides golf professionals and amateur golfers at varying standards to compete in European Tour event conditions and contained a high quality field of professionals pairing up with amateur golfers. The venue, Hacienda Del Alamo Golf Resort, has been selected to host the 2010 European Tour School Phase 2 in November.

Golf professionals taking part included former European Tour pro Craig Ronald, PGA Europro Tour event winners Danny Wardrop, Graeme Clark and George Woolgar and the world's former number 1 amateur golfer Gary Wolstenholme, who is preparing for life on the European Senior Tour.

Highly regarded Tartan Tour players Steven Gray and Chris Kelly also took part in this event, finishing in tied 2nd and 4th positions, respectively.

The leading golf professional was Danny Dennison with an aggregate score of nine-under-par, 207 with excellent rounds of 72, 69 and 66 to pick up the 1st prize cheque of 1,250. Dennison, also won the team event with his amateur golfer, Steve Whiteside of Carus Green with a 23-under-par score of 193.

The event was played in very sunny conditions day 1 and 2 with 23 degrees but the last day was cold and windy. Dennison and his partner, mainly thanks to Dennison's sparkling round of -6, 66, managed to overtake Scotlands Steven Gray and his partner Neil Macleod to win the team event.

The host Freddy Valenti managed to put up a really good showing and returned an aggregate score of +8, 224, pretty good shooting when you've to organise a Pro-Am. It sure sounded like a load of fun in a relaxed atmosphere playing in tour conditions. You'd better get in early to book for next year!
