John Ambrose of the United States will attend the inaugural Scottish Disability Golf Festival to demonstrate his new invention, The L2 Lateral Line Putter.

John, who is a pilot, will be accompanied by his son, who will also be teaching the correct stance and use of the Lateral Line.  Both have been instructing this particular style for several years and have given many demos and clinics around the states.  They have kindly agreed to attend the SDGP's Golf Festival and will provide free demonstrations to all the disabled golfers and their coaches,
carers or partners.

The SDGP is proud to be providing four days free golf and PGA Supervised tuition in September, for anyone of any age, who have a disability, serious health issue or mobility problem that interferes with the playing or learning of the game.  Their first session is a free day's tuition on Sunday 5
September at the Wellsgreen Golf Academy, near Kirkcaldy.  This is also the venue for the Golf Festival and is open to anyone, even if they haven't played before.

For the more established golfers the Festival will include two qualifying competitions for the SDGP's 2010 Order of Merit Championship at the Elmwood and St Michaels Golf Clubs.  The Golf Festival will run from Saturday 25
to Monday 27 September and participants may come for as little as a 30-minute golf lesson or stay for the weekend.

John said, "This style, which is similar to side-saddle putting, is quickly becoming a very popular way of getting the ball into the cup.  Like side-saddle, the golfer faces the hole when putting, but unlike that stance, using the Lateral Line is more naturally upright and the ball location is next to the golfer where the natural swing of the stroking arm takes place, similar to rolling a ball with your hand. This allows for a stable and simple repetition that creates a tempo stroke with a larger swing potential up and down the aim line."

The SDGP has an extensive annual competition and training fixture list, and is the only group in Scotland which actively encourages and involves anyone of any age, with a disability, serious health problem or mobility issue and their coaches, who wish to play golf and includes amputees, the blind, deaf, those with learning difficulties, downs syndrome, stroke and heart attack victims, wheelchair users and anyone with other similar issues, who wish to learn or play the sport

Jim Gales, the Chairman of the SDGP and someone who has used the putter said, "We played in the McCulloch Cup in June and Some of the American and Canadian players, used the L2 during the Ryder cup of blind golf competition.  The L2 putter is one of the first putters that are truly designed for this style. The size, weight, and balance of the L2 is revolutionary and will change the way
golfers putt. Coaches will find alignment and swing tempo for distance adjustments very easy and effective to see when aiding their golfer on the green. Both the L2 and the Lateral Line style are USGA approved. This year, KJ Choi and Johnny Miller have both used the side-saddle style on the tour
and Jim Nantz, a popular golf commentator, called it "the style of the future", so it won't be long until it begins to grow in popularity."

One commentator said, "As the great Sam Snead  said when asked what he was doing on a green at the 1976 masters while facing the hole to putt," they don't ask you how, they only ask you how many."
