Victor Lange beat Ian Snyman in the final of the Nomads South African Under 19 Match Play Championship 5 and 4 to be crowned the 2011 SA U19 Amateur Champion.
Playing the Maccauvlei Country Club layout, near Vereeniging, the Royal Johannesburg and Country Club golfer turned two up and never looked back in the eighteen hole contest.
This event followed immediately after the Nomads SA Under 19 Stroke Play, which concluded on Thursday (7 April). The top 32 finishers in this event qualified to play in the Match Play. The final match play event took place on Friday 9 April.
The playoff for third and fourth, between Theodore Oosthuizen and Dylan Raubenheimer never materialised as the match was conceded by the latter.
The Western Province golfer played 47 holes the day prior. Raubenheimer conceded complaining of exhaustion from the previous day’s marathon contests. He had taken Angus Ellis-Cole to the 27th hole to defeat him in the quarter finals. He then needed to endure a further 20 holes of match play, on the same day, against Ian Snyman, before going down in the semi finals.
